Carpe Diem #447, Heat Shimmer

Dear Haijin, visitors and travelers,

What a joy to prepare another new episode for Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. We are busy with modern kigo for spring based on Jane Reichhold's "A Dictionary of Haiku". Jane has made a completely new Saijiki (dictionary of kigo) with all modern kigo for all five seasons (New Year; Spring; Summer; Autumn and Winter). It has become a wonderful list of kigo as we already saw in this month.
Today our modern spring kigo is Heat Shimmer you all will know that phenomena in which it looks that the sky is shimmering like a Fata Morgana ... it's a phenomena which occurs as the earth is colder than the air. By the warmth of the sun the cold becomes visible through a shimmering, a vague image ... this we call Heat Shimmer.

Jane gives us the following example:

desert sounds
out of the sun

clouds moving

(c) Jane Reichhold

Heat Shimmer

It looks a bit spooky, but it has also its charm and mystery. It looks like a Fata Morgana don't you think so?

Here is my attempt to write a haiku on Heat Shimmer:

tonight my skin
will miss the spring heat
it seems colder

(c) Chèvrefeuille

Well ... it's up to you my dear Haijin, visitors and travelers, to write a haiku or senryu inspired on this prompt. Have fun.
This episode will be open for your submissions tonight at 7.00 PM (CET) and will remain open until April 16th 11.59 AM (CET). And I will try to post our new episode, Puddles, later on today.By the way: Jen of Blog it or lose it is our fourth ghost-writer for our next Ghost Writer week next to Gillena, Cathy and Sky V. So I have just one place over for another Ghost-Writer. So if you would like to be Ghost-Writer for Carpe Diem Haiku Kai in our next Ghost Writer week ... please let me know. You can read more about the Ghost-Writer at the top of our weblog on the menu and in our Update post of April 12th

  1. Despite the lauding, he remained like a mirage to them, an occurrence but not really, it was only after he cried out to his father in heaven before giving up his spirit on the cross, and that terrible earthquake shook the place that the cried out this truly was the son of God

    have a nice Sunday
